Juan Carlos Alfonso y su Dan Den
Since its debut in 1988, Dan Den band has always enjoyed stability and recording success reaching the top list of popular dance music. Dan Den has an unmistakable rhythm due to the musical arrangements, the instrumentalists, and the tone quality of their singers’ voice.

Juan Carlos Alfonso studied at the Alejandro García Caturla Conservatory and when he was 17 years old began performing as a professional as member of the Colonial ensemble. Afterwards, he joined a number of groups as piano player.
In 1983, he formed part of the prestigious Revé Orchestra where he worked as arranger, composer and musical director. Famous pieces like "No me cojas para eso", "Yo sé que tú sabes que yo sé", "La boda en bicicleta", "Más viejo que ayer y más joven que mañana", among others, belong to this period.
In 1988, he founded his own orchestra and since then a long list of his songs has turned into hits rooted in the audience"s memory. Nowadays, Dan Den is one of the first-rate salsa orchestras in the country.
The Dan Den Orchestra has a unique sonority due to the personal style of Juan Carlos Alfonso at the piano, his remarkable piano solo performances, his arrangements and the timbre of the orchestra singers. Another achievement of this orchestra is the broad repertoire ranging from salsa ballads, sones, cha cha chá, boleros, rumbas and, specially, the Dan Den rhythm which is a fusion of Cuban and Caribbean musical syncopation whose name derives from the sound produced by two typical bells used by the famous Charangas in Bejucal, a small town located in the southern part of Havana and native town of this great Cuban musician.
